Our Story

We are proud to be among the original breeders to intentionally produce the Australian Mountain Doodle. The vision for this special cross began in early 2020 when we welcomed Skyler Mae, our first Aussiedoodle female, followed shortly by Tuker, our very first Bernedoodle male. We quickly fell in love with the distinct personalities and strengths of both breeds and began imagining how extraordinary they could be when thoughtfully combined. Our goal was to create the ultimate family dog—one with a longer lifespan than the Bernedoodle alone, paired with a more moderate, manageable energy level than a typical Aussiedoodle. We aimed to balance the intelligence, athleticism, and eagerness to please of the Australian Shepherd with the gentle, loving, and easygoing temperament of the Bernese Mountain Dog, all while incorporating the loyalty, trainability, and low‑shedding coat qualities of the Poodle.

Coat & Grooming

Australian Mountain Doodles can have straight, wavy, or curly coats, depending on their genetics and lineage. Most have minimal to no shedding, making our multigenerational Australian Mountain Doodles a great option for families with mild pet allergies. Their coat does require regular maintenance. When kept longer, frequent brushing is essential to prevent tangles and matting. When trimmed, their coat is easier to manage. Unlike double-coated breeds, their hair can be safely shaved without damage. We recommend daily brushing and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks to keep your pup looking and feeling their best.

 

Appearance

Our Australian Mountain Doodles are truly one of a kind, coming in a variety of beautiful color patterns. We specialize in Chocolate and Blue Merle, as well as Chocolate and Black Tricolor. Tricolor coats feature a base of black or chocolate with white markings and traditional copper accents on the face, legs, chest, and above the eyes. Merle coats—either blue or chocolate—are paired with white and finished with the same signature copper trim, creating a striking and unique look.

 

Size

Most of our Australian Mountain Doodles range from 19–22 inches at the shoulder and typically weigh between 30–50+ pounds. Females are generally smaller than males.

We classify our puppies into two size categories:

• Mini: 19 inches and under

• Medium: 20 inches and above

 

Temperament

Australian Mountain Doodles are loyal, affectionate, and deeply family-oriented. They combine the best qualities of the Bernese Mountain Dog, Australian Shepherd, and Poodle, resulting in a well-balanced and loving companion.

They tend to do exceptionally well with children and thrive in a family environment. Their friendly and intuitive nature also makes them excellent candidates for therapy or service work. Whether joining you on an adventure or relaxing at home, they are happiest by your side.

 

Training

These dogs are highly intelligent and eager to please, making them very trainable. They respond best to positive reinforcement, consistency, and clear guidance.

We recommend starting basic training as soon as your puppy comes home to build strong habits and confidence from the beginning.

 

Activity

Australian Mountain Doodles are social, fun-loving dogs with a moderate energy level. They enjoy regular walks, playtime, and mental stimulation to keep them happy and prevent boredom.

They are wonderfully versatile—perfect for active families who enjoy the outdoors, as well as those who appreciate a relaxed day at home. As long as their physical and mental needs are met, they adapt well to a variety of living environments.
