All About Aussiedoodles

The Aussiedoodle is a beautiful cross between the Australian Shepherd and the Standard Poodle. Known for their intelligence, affectionate nature, and lively spirit, Aussiedoodles make exceptional companions for active families and individuals alike.

Coat

Aussiedoodles may have straight, wavy, or curly coats, depending on generation and parent pairing. Most Aussiedoodles shed very little to none, though straighter coats may shed slightly more. For families with mild pet allergies, an F1B or higher-generation Aussiedoodle is typically the best option.

When grown out, their coat requires regular brushing, while a trimmed coat is relatively easy to maintain. Unlike double-coated breeds, the Aussiedoodle’s coat can be shaved without causing damage. We recommend daily brushing along with professional grooming every 6–8 weeks to prevent tangles and matting.

Appearance

Aussiedoodles come in a stunning range of colors. Our program focuses primarily on Blue Merle, Chocolate Merle, Chocolate Tri, and Black Tri. Eye colors may include blue, green, brown, or even a striking combination of shades. All of our Aussiedoodles have natural, undocked tails—just as nature intended.

Size

Our Standard Aussiedoodles typically stand between 19–24 inches at the shoulder and weigh approximately 30–50+ pounds when fully grown. Females generally mature slightly smaller than males.

Temperament

Aussiedoodles are wonderful family dogs and are known for being gentle and patient with children of all ages. They are sweet, outgoing, and full of personality. Highly intelligent and people-oriented, Aussiedoodles thrive on companionship and love being involved in family life. Their affectionate nature and trainability make them excellent candidates for therapy and service work. While they enjoy outdoor play and activity, they are equally happy relaxing at your feet at the end of the day.

Training

Extremely intelligent and eager to please, Aussiedoodles respond best to training that includes positive reinforcement, consistency, patience, and clear boundaries. With both parent breeds ranking among the most intelligent dogs, this cross excels in learning. Basic commands such as sit, stay, and come should begin as soon as your puppy comes home to set a strong foundation. Crate training is also highly recommended early on to support house training and prevent destructive behaviors.

Activity Level

Aussiedoodles require both physical exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and well-balanced. They adapt well to various living environments as long as their needs are met. Daily walks, playtime, and interactive activities are essential. Many Aussiedoodles love swimming, hiking, and agility work. With a medium to high energy level, this breed is best suited for families or individuals who enjoy an active lifestyle.
